Physical Appearance

Physical Description		Nortia is of medium height, just brushing 5’5. She weighs about a hundred and twenty, a hundred and twenty-five pounds, and has medium-blonde hair. It used to be wheat-blonde when she was a child darkened considerably as she got older. Her eyes are a perfectly normal plebian brown. Nortia’s skin is relatively unmarred by sun or the unhappy effects of adolescence, and is of a rather pale shade. She isn’t athletic or outdoorsy, but she has a leggy, thin build. Her facial features aren’t anything special - she has wide lips, a high forehead, and a nose that is just a little too thin and too big for her face. Her cheekbones are more defined than is perfectly average, probably due to her inherent thinness. Nortia is innocent to an obnoxious degree. She’s never really been hurt, and she’s never really suffered any great disappointments. She’s completely unafraid to speak her mind, and is blithely unaware of the possibility of danger, social or physical. She’s breezy, blunt, and has a tendency to take on faith the idea that things will always go her way. She has little of her mother’s absolute adoration for the opposite sex, but definitely inherited a measure of her flightiness. Unfortunately, she also seems to have inherited some of her father’s grasping ways. She’s not quite greedy, but she has the aforementioned love of instant gratification, and she tends to go after what she wants rather than limiting herself to the things she needs. She’s confident, outspoken, and impulsive, but she’s also impatient and unused to getting her own way.
Dragon's Description		Torinth is of a dark, olive-green color. She’s a bit smaller than even your normal green, but nothing profoundly out of the ordinary. She has a long tail, wings slightly too large to be proportionate, and a blunter nose than is perfectly average. She’s relatively muscular, as well. She loves to try new things, and is very curious. She’s a little bit flighty, but all in all, she’s relatively gentle, and has a tendency to be subdued

Personal History

Nortia’s mother was one of her Lord Holder’s many mistresses. Lord Holder Firabil had wives, of course, but most were close to him in age and none quite so pretty as he liked his women. As the natural consequence of her trade, Ninah became pregnant when she was only eighteen. Nortia was a pretty baby, but that didn’t endear her to her mother, who had absolutely no desire for a child and who viewed her only as an inconvenience. Nortia was swiftly fostered to the care of the Headwoman’s daughter, a feisty young woman who adored children and was given free reign throughout the Hold so long as she didn’t bother the Lord’s family. She raised ‘her’ children as well as she could, but if one were honest, one would have to admit that she had entirely too many in her care. Not that Nortia minded, for she took the opportunities that her foster mother’s inattention provided. She had a penchant for searching out the Master Harper assigned to her home Hold, a nice, middle-aged man with a passable tenor and a love of conversation. They often talked, despite Nortia’s young age and undeveloped mind, for Master Harper Ambary had a love of children, as well. Once they could talk, that is. But that’s neither here nor there. Nortia grew up at Ambary’s knee, learning his stories, and loved them. Nortia was drafted as a drudge when she was ten, and responsible enough to help change the bed sheets and care for the Hold’s vermin-catching felines. By the time she was fourteen, she’d managed to once again catch her Foster Mother’s eye, and looked to be on track to a comfortable position within the Holdworker’s hierarchy when she’d caught the eye of a blue Dragon whose rider was riding on Search. She Impressed Green Torinth at 16, adopted the shorter nickname of "Nortia," and was a weyrling when Thread began to fall. She has, so far, sustained no injuries - in many cases, more due to luck than to any great skill, though Torinth is a swift dodger.
